Soltherm were in attendance at the recent regional Energy Efficiency Awards for the West Midlands. We are proud to congratulate WHG, our colleagues in the West Midlands on receiving recognition for the Hamilton and Woodall regeneration project.
From all across the region, representatives in the energy, housing and construction sectors gathered to recognise excellence in shaping housing, infrastructure and communities for the better, at a time we need energy efficiency the most.
We are proud to be official sponsors of this prestigious event in our industry; this year, Soltherm sponsored the Regional Vulnerable Customer Support Organisation of the Year award category. Many congratulations to the winners, Warm and Well (by Severn Wye.)
Warmest congratulations go to our friends and colleagues at WHG, winners of the Regional Housing Association or Landlord of the Year award. Much deserved recognition for their true commitment to energy efficiency within the West Midlands.
Since 2013, WHG (Walsall Housing Group) have invested over 400 million in home improvements and energy efficiency upgrading.
The full list of nominees and award winners can be found here.
Award winners WHG also received a special commendation for one of their flagship energy efficiency projects. Together with Surefire Management Services, they were also recognised for their outstanding work on the Hamilton and Woodall regeneration project.
The Hamilton and Woodall project was implemented to tackle fuel poverty in the region. The decision was made to overclad two large tower blocks using the Soltherm Ultimate HD Silicone system.
As a result, Fuel poor occupancy was reduced to >10% and both properties achieved a C rating for Energy Efficiency (Thermal efficiency improvement to 0.28W/mK from < 0.45W/mK.)
Events such as the Energy Efficiency Awards serve an important purpose in recognising excellence in energy efficient construction, housing and business management. However, it also serves an important role in highlighting the current state of energy efficiency in our country.
As fuel poverty continues to threaten many families and the price of energy becomes a much tougher challenge for all, it is important to recognise innovation, as well as hard work. The winners and nominees have demonstrated innovative solutions that will go on to protect lives.
It is also important to remember that the technology is there, if we want to demonstrate the same results as Hamilton and Woodall, and go on to protect more families. We hope that in 2022, WHG’s exemplary work will be the first of many to be recognised going forward.
